Default Door lock problem

My passenger door is very hard to lock, when I use the switch the lock goes only half way and I have to push the rest of the way and it takes a lot of power.
Even after I took the panel off, it is still hard to lock and unlock, anybody know what causes this or how to fix this problem?

Thanks!!

You may want to spray some WD-40 into the locks,
This happens to me from time to time, Spray them & all is good again...

When you took the panel off, was the stiffness in the linkage or the door cylinder? You can disconnect the linkage to isolate the problem and then lubricate whatever is sticking.

Sometimes the rod comes out of the nylon retainers on the accessory panel. The retainers effectively shorten the travel required for them to function. They can get brittle with age. They are sold in the HELP! aisle.

Sorry, did not mean the locking cylinder, I mean the locking mechanism inside. The manual lock is hard to move and that is what I need to fix.

When you pull the interior door panel off you will see an aluminum sheet that almost fills the open space in the SMC(fiberglass) door. That aluminum sheet is called the accessory panel. The door lock and door latch have rods that connect the lock lever to the lock and door handle to the door latch. Those rod have anti-rattle clips that hold them to the back (inside the door) side of the accessory panel. When the rods are not in their clips they require much more travel to perform their functions.
