This week I will have some time, and I have the car in between projects, so if I get this done I can get back on track here.
I want to know some tricks or tips to removing the A/C system as a whole, like this.
I will also need to keep the blower working for defrost for heat though, so I think I have to do some wiring correct?
any help is appreciated.
BTW the system is full and it did work, if it matters.
Thanks for your time.

This isn't a A/C delete project by the way it's just all it's original a/c stuff was completely shot and for 350.00 I got this setup from a member on here and it's charged and ready to go in the car. Here is the system going back in it.

Mine wasn't a a/c delete though just all my original a/c stuff was shot and a good system from another 90 was a cheaper way to go to get it working again.. But fairly simple to remove it as a unit.
here you can see the areas this box covers it's basically flat so a custom box wouldn't be hard to mount.
That is all I did .Cut a straight line from the blower housing to the other end leaving it approx 1" high.Rerformed top in alum sheet and glassed over.
Plenty of plug access room now
I went a slightly different route. We took out the whole housing on the front of the firewall on my son's '87. I found a 12v two speed Spahl squirel cage fan at www.surpluscenter.com . Came with it's own plastic housing. We mounted that to the front of the firewall over that round hole that the original one was over. Then I fabbed up a piece of sheet metal into a ductwork to direct the air across the front of the firewall over to that rectangular opening. Used a ton of silicone sealant. Works great. We've got tons of room to access the plugs and header bolts over there too. Sorry I don't have any pictures showing the completed work.

Thank rodj, if you have time can you post a pic of yours. I know mseven put a plate or something in.
thanks
Oh ya, forgot about that one. Yep, shorter belt and you route it around the tensioner the other way from stock. That's the only change needed for the belt. I think I used a 735k6 or 755k6, can't remember for sure. I'll see if I can find the wrapper for it on my workbench, I think I saved it there. I did that on both my '86 and my son's '87. Works great.
