My headlights on my 86 operate in both directions "very" fast; so fast I'm worried something is going break. Are they supposed to be this fast? Is the speed adjustable?

I'll look in the FSM and see if I can find anything that may help. But I have a 90.
I commented in your other thread, but figure I'll do it here as well. Could you get a stopwatch and time the operation to be sure there's actually something wrong?
Also, check the thread in C4Gen for a link to a YouTube video of the lights operating properly, for reference.

The motors are not adjustable for speed. If the components are new, then the buckets could be opening quickly. Usually, it's hardened grease in the gears that tend to slow the opening/closing speeds and that results in more strain on the motors. That leads to gear failure....
My 87 stil has all the original components (except for the 3 relays) and the buckets only take a couple seconds to open or close.
It's also important to make sure that the stops for the buckets are adjusted properly. If the stops are way off in adjustment, that can allow the motor to keep running and put a big strain on the gears.
I've had the 86 for a little over a year and they've always been fast. I don't know if hte previous owner repaired or replaced them, I don't think so. They probably open in 1 second. It's almost instantaneous. I don't hear the motor driving after it gets full open so I'm convinced any limit switches are fine. I guess I should be happy they work so well and not worry about it but they're so fast it's scary. Thanks for all the input. Any more ideas, just fire away.
Just watch for flying headlights when you turn them on. If you see them flying through the air you have a problem.
I personally don't think it's an issue as the other guys have stated. Also, the previous ownder may have replaced the bulbs with the light weight ones to save on the motor. This would cause them to seem fast also but not make it an issue.
Just thinking out loud and wondering. I do that sometimes.
