Hi i'm new to the site and i just got my first Corvette, its an 84' with CF injection. I have played with F-bodies and i still own one but i decided it was time to move up. I got this car with a ruined head(assumed) either way the Gen 1 small block is coming out and an LT1 is going in. I want a 6 speed as well, i have heard that A T-56 will work and that the ZF-6 is the preferred tranny(as it was used in the vette stock) How easy is the install for a T-56 (as they are easier tranny's for me to get). I installed a T-56 into my Camaro last summer. Anything similar do you think? I want to know if i'll run into any major problems. What do you guys think? Thanks and MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Hmm must just be low traffic during the holidays. I can't help with your problem, but welcome to Vette ownership! Before you buy a LT1, you should look into getting a Gen I SBC. You can get some pretty serious performance for cheap, especially if you're willing to go carbed, lol.

I have a carb on my Camaro that has a pretty stout gen 1 and i am not a huge fan of the carb. I want to stay fuel injected for my next build. plus the LT's look cool.
Check out the search for info on the T56 swap. IIRC the shifter is further rear on the T56 let us know what you find out
I SEARCHED for HOURS before posting on here, the info is not out there, I have found a few posts but not very many and no one seems to know what has to be modified.....
Ya I know what you mean. I have found a bit but not all the details that I would like. The T56 is often considered as part of a LS1 swap. Makes for a pretty sweet package if it will fit. I have a couple LS1 swap books (SA books, Greg Sloan) but still have not found a good dimensional drawing. As much as I would like to do a head n cam LS1/T56 I am probly gonna go with a SBC/TKO600ss. Mostly because it is a drop in allowing me to spend more time on other parts of the car. like I said let us know what you find out.
