I have a friend with a 94 6 speed car will not start. It was a repo, has been sitting a while. We have had it running well, but then problems... New: fuel pump, opti spark, wires, water pump, etc. We now cannot get our scanner to communicate with the ecm. We cannot pull any codes or communication. In addition the dash is freaking out.
While we were working with it the other day, we noticed that the ecm did not fit into the holder just right. there were several tabs to lock it into position that did not fit. We are starting to think that this is an ecm out of a f body, and maybe moisture has caused it to fail. My brother said that the c4 ecm is the only one that is weather proof.
Do you agree that the ECM is the problem? Can we just drop in a new ecm? Does the car have to be brought to the dealer to flash it in? Any other thoughts?
It should flash a C12 code to tell you it is working. Are you using the paperclip method or a scanner? If a scanner then also try the paperclip method to be sure it is not the scanner.
This car is OBDII. Can you use the paperclip method on OBDII systems? I was under the impression that you could not. I see you have a 95 so you must have OBDII as well.
The Haynes manual does not specify a method of jumping the terminals w the OBDII connector. I know this is surprising since the Haynes manual is usually So Informative
Anyway do you still just jump the upper right two together just like the earlier models? If so, we did try that and got nothing.
