Bumpiest track I've been on-adds to the excitement with the concrete barriers talking to you!
Not bad for 125,000 chassis miles and 37,000 miles on owner built 381 with 11.9 CR. And hey, I kept the Ferrari 430 Challenge car in sight for nearly half a lap...
Thank you. Looked like fun, although I am allergic to concrete lined courses. At least when I am driving and it's my car. Very nice video. That Ferrari was hauling for sure.
id love to drive my car on any road course,i bet your pretty impressed, letting your car sit for so long and being able to go out and get down like that with no problems.i know i would be.and on another note:your not supposed to be able to beat a Ferrari anyway.good job keeping him insite for as long as you did.
aboatguy: fresh OEM Optispark, Taylor wires, OEM coil, AC RF #12 plugs.
TJM: Track is very bumpy, but not abusive as in potholes...lots of heaves. Sebring was a B-17 bomber base...original portions of the runway and taxiway now serve as the two long straights (front and back). Tires were new Nitto 555 IIR (roadracing DOT) tires. Great tires driven daily on the street everyday (can do that in FL!). 11,000 mile average durability. I kept the revs to ~6000 other than the back straight to hear the 7000 rpm music (fuel cut is 7200).
c-4 lhozwalte: Agreed on the Ferrari...full slicked-race car, and probably a few more skills. :-)

OEM OPTISPARK at 7K that's what I figured.....
I love the sound of a LTX at 7K, I have my fuel cut off set at 7005and it pulls to the limiter in 3rd (my 1:1 gear) maybe I'll bump it up another could hundred .....
Back to your car...IT SOUNDS great......
Thanks!
Damn that Ferrari, I think he took advantage of you while you were being nice to that other Vette.....LOL
Just a tweak here and there and you are giving that $500k car a run for it's money.....
Just finished watching the last one....other than that Ferrari you did all the passing that day.
The one that cracks me up the most is that S2000.....it's making so much noise and not really getting anywhere fast......but He's good at driving with one hand and pointing with the other, He's got that down!!! LOL

I thought those were 383's, wish I had that 381 revving to 7000 in my my old C4
A 383 has a .030 overbore, the 381 has a .020.
the original LT4 shortblock was removed! And on 26 March my new owner built 381 cubic inch came to life! I assembled a 1995 LT1 block with a SCAT 4340 rotating assembly (5.7 H-beam rods, 3.75 stroke crank, and 4.020 flat top SRP pistons) using my CNCed LT4 heads and intake. The camshaft is a GM part (847) from Chevrolet. It is quite large with 296/304 duration and .575/.595 lift with my 1.6 rockers...this is by design as my final measured compression ratio is a staggering 11.9 to 1!.
aboatguy: My 96 PCM only allows 7155 for a limiter...otherwise I would go higher! My 918 beehives and AFR Hydrarev have kept the revs valve float free. I've not lost an Optispark (end up replacing them as a matter of routine though), but had poor luck on my one try with an MSD...6000 rpm cutout first drive down the road-warranty return.
Sidney004: STL94LT1 has it right...excerpt from my webpage-thanks! This particular block only needed .020 to clean up so that is what I went with-might get another rebuild out of it in the future (.040?).
jhammons01: Admittedly, I chose laps that were agreeable in the editing process. :-) I was passed aplenty-Skylines, GT3's, Viper's, even a new supercharged CTS-V...most on slicks or Hoosiers, but a bit more practiced as well as a trailer for the trip home! Other than firming up the Koni's, this is the way I drive this every day nearly 350 miles a week. The 'spec' Miata was getting practice laps in for the race-they are rather 'outspoken' similar to a Lotus. 'Point by's' are required in this club...no point by and no pass-no one wants a new paint job!
96vetteLT4: Chin Motorsports 'club/track day.' Got to be part of the club to take part in the track day. 3 hours of track time so more than I can handle ($299 charge). Track events aren't inexpensive, but getting to lay some rubber on a famous track is worth it.
The mount is a simple suction setup so not the most stable. The Corvette's angled windows limit an effective mounting compared to other cars unfortunately.
