I'd say your good to go, although the gauge reading could be wrong, could be high, could be low.

If your happy with everything else with the car, I'd try and talk the owner down in price (negotiate) and then make the purchase.
These are absolute minimums by the fsm before rebuild. If you meet these specs you are very very close to a rebuild. If those are the real pressure on the engine. the bearings are comprimised.

Couldn't a low oil pressure be a bad pump? Or clogged pick up screen?

yes it could be a clogged pickup screen. This I know. The next question would be what is clogging the screen ? Maybe an oil change could shed some light on the situation. Also cutting apart the old oil filter and inspecting the element can be informative.

yes i know that's some work and expense on a car someone else owns, but it could help you make your decision.

one final thought, the engine is full of oil ?

Good feedback, thanks! I think I'm going to pass on this car. You're right, there are many to choose from. Also, at this time of year I think the sellers must be motivated or they would probably wait til spring to list their cars.

My 89 I just bought has 213,000 miles and has 60 psi cold and around 53 psi warm, bit less on idle around 45 psi.
