Default Fuel filter change

How hard is it to change the fuel filter on a 92 vette? I can't seem to find any info on how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Be sure and disconnect the battery for safety's sake. It's all too easy to accidentally short the starter solenoid with your wrench or other tool resulting in a possible KABOOM!

Probably would be good to remove the pressure in the fuel system before you disconnect the battery. You pull the fuel pump fuse and start the car still it dies. Then try and start it one more time. Then disconnect the battery and replace filter.

Or you could relieve the pressure via the shrader valve. Though I don't know if that would be messy or not.

I changed my fuel filter on my 96 in about 45 min... Its not that hard, but a little tight. The higher your Vette is the easier it is. I used my bleeder valve on my fuel pressure gauge to relieve the pressure in the fuel lines. I used a bucket to catch the excess fuel that runs from the engine when you loosen the bolts . There was a lot more extra gas than I expected and I thought I was draining the gas tank but the flow thankfully stopped . A crows foot wrench would have probably made it easier, but all in all, it wasnt too bad. I could probably do it in a half hour now...

If you ran the system till it shut off via pulling the fuel pump fuse. I'm guessing then there wouldn't be any gas coming out of the lines that bolt to the fuel filter?

1- Its easy to change the fuel filter with the starter removed as I did when my starter went bad.

2- You can get at the lower nut on the fuel filter and loosen it. Then using the special tool, separate the fuel line on the top of the engine and pull out the line and filter as one piece. Change filter and install in reverse order.

Take all precautions when working with power and fuel.

when i did mine a month ago, i pulled the fuel pump fuse and ran the car till it died, then tried to start a few more times. i lost almost no gas. it was tight, but i fit 2 wrenches back there to loosen the one side of the filter, then put a wrench on the other side to hold it and i used a socked wrench on the actual filter and it came right out. cut it open and man that thing was a mess!
