the gears inside the track needs lubricating if they are not already stripped.
I had to replace my seat track on the driver's side. not a big problem. took me all of 45 minutes.
cost me 79.00 off of ebay for the replacement.

More than likely it's the plastic parts inside the seat transmission that are toast. I'd suggest getting a rebuilt unit from Keen or one of the other CF vendors. Getting a used one would be a short-term fix, since the parts get brittle with age, and you'll likely just have to do it again. BTW, you don't need to get the whole seat track, just the trans.
