Boring .030 cost?

What IS negotiable is the point where you realize that it's just best to close your eyes and hand over the checkbook.
Say you just want to freshen the heads...well, then you get blowby on the rings. Okay, lets just do the block and heads...well, boring .30 over and getting 383 pistons is cheap.
Hmm, better oil it right.
Hmm, need a good timing chain.
Well, the stock heads won't flow for a 383, better hog 'em out or swap heads....new CNC'd ones are about the same price as making the stockers flow...
Now the intake won't support the power the rest of the parts can make...nor can the exhaust, or the TB...well, there's cooling too....what's the condition of the sensors? It's easy to get to 'em now, less so when you have all the crap in the car.
Oh, yeah, there's tuning too....emissions? What's that?
