Just wondering how many members are now using AFR heads and what kind of numbers they are putting out. I have just purchased the 195 l-98 version. Getting ready to dyno them, and will post specs and dyno numbers in next couple of weeks.
I got a pair last month.Best head for the money.Quality is excellent.Paid $1250 for them.I am building a 400 small block,looking to get 500\500 at the crank.
AFR 195's with 8019 springs shimmed up alittle bit.
On 11 to 1 383 with stealth ram, it made 392whp on 10th pull in 90 deg air, with motor temp at 204.... so figure 10whp easily not heat soaked... supported peak power to 6500rpm, shift by 6600-6800. Thats well over 400whp. Ran 11.47 at 118-119 with so so launch in July summer heat (about mid 80's deg with alittle humidity ~2800-3200 ft DA)
Same heads on my 9 to 1 compression 401cubic inch twin turbo motor... has made 640whp on mustang dyno with 12.5 psi through TH400 with a VERY loose converter. Got converter restalled so hoping to see 750whp easily with 14 psi and tuning but we'll see.
Car ran 9.8's at 140-141 mph in good air with no boosted launch, 14 psi. 93 octane pump gas only HOpe to see 9.3's with new converter, better tuning, better launch, etc. Love an 8.99 on higher boost
AFR's do pretty good

Installed 195 elims 2 years ago, found my "plug" was poor exhaust after the headers. Dyno last summer with 10.5 :1 and had 402 RWHP, 405 RWTQ with open headers. Now added 3" dual exhaust all the way back with X pipe and bumped up compression to 11.5 : 1 and hope for 420 - 450 HP RWHP later this spring. Best heads for the money you can buy.
I have an older set of AFR 180's. Transferred them from the old L98 to the ZZ4 short block. No dyno numbers yet. Still has to be fine tuned for the cam.
AFR 195 Competition version here on an L-98. 535hp on the engine dyno with more power to be had with the proper TPI intake manifold. Engine is 369 cubic inches.
Could add my buddys car. was 87 trans am but motor was moved into a 94 firebird. Its a 406, mid 10's to 1 compression, TPIS 242/242 solid roller, and old non eliminator AFR 195's that were ported to flow around 280 cfm. Miniram intake.
Car runs high 10's on motor at 125-127 mph. 150 shot it has seen 10.0's at 138mph with slipping clutch
Even the old heads run hard
