If I recall it is disconnect the battery, like two bolts and then another to get the battery cable off and I think there was a wire for the relay and it comes right off.
Personally I stear away from the big retailers because of my past experiences with their alternators. Although I have not yet yet replaced my starter, I would recommend PowerMaster based on my experience with their alternators.
One thing you can consider (especially if you have headers) is putting some of that auto heat wrap around it while you are putting it back in. Race shops should have it. Cheap ounce of prevention.
The Nippondenso mini starter from Napa is what I used. It's the same starter that GM used.
The two transmission cooler lines will be in the way but, with a lot of patience and manuvering the starter can be removed and replaced within an hour.
DO NOT get one of the duralast paperweights from autozone...they're only $35 with a lifetime guarantee, but you'll be changing them weekly! Spend the money, do it once!!
