I usually post on the C3 forum but the 383 stroker motor I got has a casting # 14093638 a 87-95 350 block. The motor appears to be machined for a roller cam. How reliable are the roller cams verses a flat tappet? Is there a wear plate that gets bolted to the block behind the camshaft gear? Do I have to get shorter push-rods? Any pictures would be appreciated. Thanks

1) Very Reliable
2) Yes. GM made 2 plates, same but different bolt hole locations.
3) Yes. Factory roller cams used 7.190 length pushrods due to the taller lifter.

Roller cams are the way to go (if you can afford to) they will give you free HP and with the oils that are used today rollers are more reliable especilly if you drive it much, again do to the newer oils. A thrust plate is used to keep the cam from "walking".Shorter push rods are needed do to the taller lifters. A roller cam cam be put in any block IF you go to the aftermarket world for parts.
