Changing from 2.59 to 3.07 and want to calibrate the speedometer.
Saw several posts about turning the speedo gear 180*, but it was always someone who heard of it being done.
Has anybody actually done this and how did you do this?
If not, who is a good source for the speedo gear and the other one which slips my mind right now(long day)?
You should only need the 42 tooth driven and the VSS for your install. Your present drive is a match I believe. Don't rotate the VSS, just get the correct and I believe it's available still.
If your car is a high miler while you're doing the rear you might want to consider some light maintenance and replace the transmission extension bushing and seal or certainly the seal! U-joints if they haven't been done previously would also be a good idea.
Surfer92: Yes you're all set with good information! Enjoy!!!
c-4 lhozwalte: 9775187 is I'm quite sure a 45 tooth gear for a "mechanical drive" speedometer. It will NOT do for you what you want! There are sources for the correct part#! Don't even bother taking your car apart to attempt the speedo fix. Just locate the correct part #'s from the above posted "correct" information.

where the can i find 25513052?ive been all over the web this morning with no luck yet?
Ordered VSS from Napa, after a week the order status said PICKING, wait 3 more days and checked again. Status was CANCELED, no email notification, I have emailed customer support and have not received and answer and I called and there customer support mailbox is full and disconnects you.
This is lousy customer support and sales!!!
Will not buy from them again, so does anybody know where I can get the VSS without paying out the nose?
You may want to try rotating the stock one, I did it on mine when I first installed 3.73's and it seemed to work fine but since the correct part was still available from GM at the time I bought it.
I've always been confused by the reason to rotate 180*, when I compare the two I see no difference in offset at all.
Just got off the phone w/Gary at transmissionhead, he says I need the 44 tooth Grey driven gear and the black nbr 55X VSS w/clip turned 180 degrees.
He stated that I actually needed the 46 tooth driven gear, but nobody makes it and the pigtails varied on the Vette's. some used standard and some were vette only.
He also said that if I have the white VSS that turning it 180 and reinstalling MIGHT make the speedo acurate and might not.
So, What does turning the VSS and drive gear 180 accomplish?
And why would GM use 2 different VSS's?
And why would the black one be turned one way on all other cars and turned 180 out for the vette?
