New guy with a question
Thanks,

suggests , get a factory sevice manual first , it will be worth its weight in gold for as long as you own the vette , and will help you diagnose the problem so you will only change the parts necessary to cure your ailments. Don't even think about a Haynes !

Its VATS related. Has to do with the little pellet in your key. Do a search on VATS and you will be able to read for days about VATS.

My 87 would not crank - usually when it was hot outside. There's a great thread on the C-4 forum titled something like "VATS" or "No Crank" and in that thread are detailed instructions on how to bypass the VATS system. I followed that advice (after trying other stupid newbee stuff) and have not had the problem since. Of course that was my issue, your mileage may vary and you should get the real manual as suggested.
This is a great forum with awesome help available, these pros even tolerate my most stupid questions! I'm honored to throw my 2 cents in to help someone!
