Ok Is it normal for a L-98 to be at 3000 rpms? when my baby is stop she hang around 3000-3500 rpms. but she run great when in gear. I know for a fact I am the 5th owner of her so I was wondering, could someone messed up my computer trying to make it run better? If so can I fix it and how if I can.
is the throttle returning to the stop on the throttle body?? Mine used to do that because the return spring on the TB was broken.. I went to home depot and bought a spring for a buck and hooked it from thethrottle cable post to the bracket on the plenum and it fixed it until I bought a new TB...

I took it apart today and cleaned it. it look and feels good. it snap back like it should. but for some reason it still ide at 3000-3500 rpms.
on friday I get paid and I have it off. I'll take the intake off the motor and look each part over and clean them up as I put them back on. with new gasket. If this does not work what should my next step be?
you didnt say what year...but the earlier L98's have an adjustment on the TPS...and it doesnt cost anything to check it...you just need a DVM. You just loosen the screws on the side and turn it until the meter reads .54 +/- .07. You get this reading by back probing terminals A and B on the TPS harness.

I got a 1990 corvette. I only bought because it got the color I love the most (yellow)
ok I took off the upper intake and looked at all vac lines. All seem ok but Im still going to fully take the intake and manfold off on friday. and as for the adjustment on the TPS I try it and no luck. So there is only two thing a leak somewhere or my computer is tilling to idle that high.
My car acts like the throttle is sticking and there are a couple of things that may be wrong. One its dirty and the throttle plate wont close all the way or the TB is just worn out. Face it, our cars are pretty old so its time to replace stuff. Heres a great article from Corvette magazine that may help.
