Default DERM module ground

I have an INFL REST code 16 on a 1990 convertible. I pulled and cleaned the sensors and reset the computer, but the code 16 comes right back. I'd like to clean the ground for the DERM too. Anyone know where that ground is?

Thanks....
Scott

I experienced the exact problem with the code 16 on Sunday.

Before you investigate the ground, if you have not ohmed the frame sensor remove the left side hush panel to gain access to the wire connector for the left sensor. Its a bright yellow rubber push only connector. I mean that it does not have locking tabs. Pull the connector apart & check the sensor ohms with a digital ohm meter. If the sensor ohms out ok put some dielectric grease on/in the connector, reassemble & clear the code. My second problem with the code 16 turned out to be the connector, someone did not get the 2 halves completely mated to each other or it had worked itself apart from vibration.

Thanks, I'll give this a shot. How many ohms should the sensor have?

I have a 1990 also...had similiar problem.
Per FSM....
There are 3 wires on the pigtail from the sensor.
Black....call it #1
Yellow..call it #2
Pink.....call it #3
#1 and chassis ground----less than 1 ohmn
#1 and #2---------------approx. 10k ohmns
#1 and # 3--------------approx. 10k ohmns
#2 and #3---------------less than 1 ohmn
Hope this helps !!

I couldn't get any ohm reading between Black and yellow or pink. Good news is that I unplugged the connector and plugged in back together firmly and reset the light and it's staying out for now.

I think the plug just worked it's way loose.

Scott..
The FSM suggests "wiggling" the wires to check for a possible intermittent fault. Could be you have reset the connection during reassembly. Bottom line ..'It Works".I couldnt believe the crap I had to go thru for the diagnostic to fix. All because GM didnt do the dielectric grease thing on the sensors frame rail connection. That was their FIX for the 1991 model!!
