was going to open my hood to put on emergency hood release cables and it happen, pass. side opened but not drivers side not, so i took off a bunch of crap and am able to get my hand 2inches from putting a temp release cable on, have no dexterity in my fingers up in there , hands too big, almost got it , so close but yet so far away. Any ideas?
MAM makes a tool to open the "clam" style hood in such cases.
If you can bend a short "L" on the end of a stiff rod, you can slide it in on top lf the latch, drop it into the latch and rotate the rod to open the latch.
Unless the cable is broken, you could try parking on an incline; the slight body twist might be enough to free a latch that simply doesn't open far enough.
My Vette is in the shop now so I can't measure mine but, as I recall, I set the tape so that it would just touch the large WS block and the "business end" would be in latch.
All you really need is some reference point on the car when the hood is closed so you will know when the tip is over the latch.
