You all know my trans is poofdaa :D. My convertor is a pro torque 2800(on the tighter side of 2800) that has been in there since early '99. Not many passes at the track...but lots of street use(hard runs there too). Now...should I go to 3000 or leave it as is.? The few times I go to the track I WOULD like a better e.t., but don't want to give up how nicely it drives. It's a tough choice.
Tell me what you think. I'm thinking the extra 200 r's isn't that bad.
Hmmm...couldnt tell ya that since converters seem to vary even rated at the same stall speeds.Ill sit back and watch the others chime in and say,and also wonder if with your motor and gears, would increasing more stall be a little too much?
:)

Thanks Bill... I'm up in the air also... thats why I am asking opinions. I like the way it feels now.
JP, you're right...it is a 99% Street Car. I guess I'll take your advice and leave it be. I don't think the trans failed(or didn't) because of heat. I WILL get the additional cooler in there however. I just spoke to my guy and he asked i make a few runs immedately after the re-build to make sure things are ok. Stickies are going on for that. It's staying at 2800 but being freshened. Thanks... I appreciate the input.
Leave it be ... :yesnod: :yesnod: And like said above, it will be different with different power. I believe with a 383 like ours a 2800 would stall a bit high. I left the 2400 stall in mine, mainly because of cost, but it should be a little better on the street too.
agreed glock. if it we're a weekend warrior...there'd prolly be a 3200 in there(take advantage of that low end torque) like beach bums(think his is a loose 3000). but it's not. i notified pro torque and they're going to give it the once over. it'll be down a little while..but that's alright.

Hopefully it won't be down too long .. like mine at least ..
It's all set. My local guy who did this one(it lasted the longest of the three...two we're done by rossler, LPE's people and they lasted 4000 miles each, zero track runs...this one lasted 22,000 miles and hard street use). I spoke to Impala Joe about it, ironically I didn't think it'd need the attention this soon. Better now than in the summer. I could easily be ready for the challenge with the fixed intake gasket too.
