I'm going to be putting in a ProTorque 2400-2800 stall converter in my car, and I'm wondering if I should upgrade to an actual tranny cooler. I have the factory equipped one. (Brand new radiator, so the tranny cooler is brand new too), but I'm thinking, shoot, tranny coolers are around $50, I could easily afford it. Will it give me benefits, and do all I have to do, is just plug the lines into it, that go to the factory cooler? Thanks!
ABSOLUTELY! I'm putting one on mine and it's stock 2420 stall. You want that thing to be as cool as possible (within reason). Keep it below 200 and you're good to go.

Yep, you can use an aftermarket cooler in tandem with your stock cooler. I picked up a B&M Supercooler and the preferred method is to use them both at the same time. :) BTW - are you sure you don't want to get in on the Vigilante GP?
There are two types of coolers, the tube & fin type, & the "stacked plate type" the 2nd is what I have ..I've had both types & the stacked plate type is 100% better, since I went to the stacked plate, my trans temp has never gone over 185...
With my old one I hit 230 + on several occasions, another + is I was able to get it at a Carquest for about $70..
John P is on the $. His car, Ralphs and Mackey's all have a good cooler and they don't have much trouble with overheating. The stacked plate unit is finding it's way in my car once it's all back togehter(trans). I would follow His advice.
