Its no big deal to remove the bolts for the AC compressor and just slide it out of your way...just don't remove any hoses

Remove the AC compressor, it will make the job much easier.

I removed my passenger side on my 85 without messing with the compressor.

My pass. side vavle cover came off with no problem. Didn't even have to touch the AC compressor. All that needed to be moved was the intake manifold coolant hose.

I had to remove the 4 bolts and rear brace and slide the compressor out of the way. I also had to bend the filler pipe slightly.
On the left side I had to loosen the alt and move it slightly.

4 bolts that hold the bracket, 10mm I think. Its the EGR tube that kills me. I always break a bolt. :cuss

Re: remove valve covers. (Warlock)
Yep,
Did this about 10 times before I got my valve covers to seal without leaks. Kinda a pain. The small bolts that hold the compressor to the bracket are a pain in the &*^. You can only move them about 1/10 of a turn each movement and they are about 10 ft long. I decided that if I had to do it again there was going to be two small holes drilled through the wheel well (plastic piece) that I could then put a socket through. I hate to say it, but better you than me! :smash:
