The engine is for my 89 Formula since the block and heads have cracks in them that red devil is presently keeping from leaking.
I ask about it here because there are too many.....um.... I'll be nice and call them hot rodders from hell over on the fbody forum.
Since the engines are basically the same I figured I'd ask here. My question is what do I need to look for when buying the pieces?
Will any 350 block in decent shape work?
Would it be best to go with Vortec heads and buy a Vortec TPI base?
It all seems pretty straight forward on the build but wanting to stay with the tpi seems to limit some directions I can go.
Thanks
An 87-91 block will be a one piece seal/roller cam block. Thats what you need. Truck blocks up to around 96 will work. The other questions are too generalized, I can not answer them.
Well I was just wondering what block and heads would be the best and not cost an arm and a leg. I thought Vortec heads were a better choice than the stockers and if I went that direction I then have to buy a different intake. Are there better choices in heads that will work with the TPI and not cost too much?
Just want it to be in the stock hp area so not interested in more than 275-300 hp.
Thanks
