Electric Key Relay
I was always leaving the keys in my 84 because the Buzzer never worked. It was worn out and you could hear a faint buzz if you listened real carefully. Of course parts for 84 can be impossible to find. I did find a used one and after tearing apart the dash front replaced it and it buzzes like new. Problem now the seat belt, door ajar and and hatch warning lights do not go on. Is is possible that this used Relay had a defect in these components? Does that mean that I will not be able to read codes as the security light still flashes.

You have likely partially unplugged the connector on the telltale assembly printed circuit board. Look for a connector that is not fully seated, or unplug it and plug it back in to clean the contacts.
