On the left side of the brake booster on my 85 there are two relays, one in front of the other...I need to know what the frontmost relay controls. I'm having an issue with the 4+3, and I have conflicting info on where the OD relay is located. On the relay in question, the casing of the wires has shrunk so there is about an inch and a half of exposed wire going into the plug on a couple of the wires. Either way, I'm going to fix it, but if this is the OD relay, it would explain my troubles...thanks in advance!!
From what I just read (I just bought an 86 with a lot of issues including the Overdrive Relay and Fuel Pump Relay) the one in the front is the OD relay and the rear one is the FP. Both of mine are showing wire - I guess that I need new plugs also (or can they be repaired?). Any idea where to get those?
my FSM has a GM number for the plug; I'm not going to hold my breath hoping they still make it, but you never know. As far as the wires go, I'm going to splice and solder them, cover them in heat shrink, and put new ends on them. I also plan on replacing those relays while I'm at it...where did you find that out???
I was searching for the Fuel Pump relay yesterday and I am trying to remember the site but the FP is the rear one. I got my 86 really cheap but the body and interior is good. Have not gotten it started yet but the weather in Louisiana is not cooperating - freezing and rain. I have already spliced a bunch of wires - The main harness that goes under the brake booster got caught in the steering gear - I have no idea how, but when I soldered them back together, the headlights, horn, wipers, etc started working. I did have one wire that I cannot find the other end of though....
