Default Cats Converter question...

I am putting headers on my 94 6sp. I took my exhaust off all the way to the cats. I am working from reaer to front. I unbolted the cats to the headers. So The cats are just sitting there hanging by the hangers for the cats. There are 2 bolts for each cat to the hanger and I cant seem to find a way to reach them, specially the top one. How the heck do I get to them?

I guess you are speaking about the drivers side. The top of that bracket is under a transmission bolt IIRC. It takes a 5/8 socket. Use a couple of extensions and you'll get it. I believe I bought a 5/8 swivel socket just for that purpose.

There are some ground wires under those bolts. Be careful not to tear them loose from the end connector.

so If I just cut the bracket off I wont need it when I put my headers on right? because my cats will be farther towards the back then?

You can't reuse the stock cats with long tube headers. So, no you won't need the bracket.

I got the the bottom bracket bolt on the driver side but I cant find anything to reach up and get the top one. I bought an air cut off tool and I cant angle it or jam it in there to get the whole bracket. WHAT DO I DO? everything is rusted so I cant even unbolt the cat from the bottom of the bracket where the 3 bolts are. they all broke off. I tried to pivet back and forth to bend and heat up the metal to snap it but im rubbing my oil filter raw. ?? haha

No need to remove the whole bracket. Just cut off enough to clear the headers.

Never know if it will cause extra resonance (like how a tuning fork vibrates)
