Default 383 temptation

On '90 vette of my friend Mario we detected a spun bearing...
He don't want to rebuild the engine, he prefere go with a complete swap of engine. Searching on the net there aren't L98 '90 or '91 remanufactured. All companies offer to rebuilt his motor. So we must tear down the engine, to ship the engine in the USA , to wait for the rebuilt and to wait for the shipment here in Italy.
If only we can find a remanufactured L98 '90 with 013 head casting with warranty and (paying the core), we will be happy. After this we can see that the engine is a real L98... ship the old engine to have the core deposit refounded.
We found a company that (at first said to have a 90 L98 chevy corvette engine taken from a covertible ) then, after our interest they said the price was $2470 ( $1000 are for core [1470 + 1000] ).
After this they reply ton our Email like this:
These are the components which we will use on the engine which you requested.
Aluminium Heads Casting # 110088113 or 14101128
Block Casting # 14093638
Roller cam and Lifters
Pistons 9.1:1 Compression

We know 14101128 are not D port 90 heads,
I don't know for the block,
About pistons: If they say 9.1:1 maybe they are referring to a 64 cc head not the 58 cc corvette heads...
In any cases, I have 2 main questions:
1)Using a Scat crankshaft , proper pistons , and the block obove , std 5.7 rods, boring .030 the block we can achieve the magic nuber : 383....
If we mantain our stock heads, stock cams, stock TPI, and others stock parts we can have better performance?? (I'm referring for first choice to a best low rpm torque). Upgrading to 383 is so simple? (new crankshaft + different .030 pistons). It's stupid to go to 383 ci and retain the stock cam, TPI, heads... or this can be called 'conservative/safe way for power' ?

2) Ther is someone n the forum that can give me some link to a engine remanufaturer that has a 90 L98 engine??
Any Info will be appreciated (both for 383 and L98 search...)
Beppe and Mario (owner of the died car)
:mad
Thanks and sorry for the long post and for the bad English....

Does Mario have a 6 speed? If so the 383 is going to need a new flywheel $$$ to balance the 383. If it's an automatic you just need a new flexplate which is alot cheaper. Either way you must grind the block inside to clear the bigger crankshaft and rods. I built a 350 to avoid this hassle.

You can buy a complete balanced "rotating asssembly" from a company like this one: http://www.dirttrackthunder.com
then have it installed into his original block, or a new one from Chevy, and have his heads rebuilt.
I bought a new 350 4-bolt block with std. bore ready to asssemble for $600 from Chevrolet. Part# 10105123.

Good luck with the project!
