This year I will have somebody build me a 383 stroker, reusing my block, it will need retrofit lifters. (i want to go full roller)

The car is going to be street driven, i am building for torque. I want it to shove me into my seat when i step on the gas, the car will rarely be near 5000 RPM. I don't want a lopey idle, i want it to be driveable.

AFR 195's
FIRST Intake (after shortblock is built)
going to shoot for 9.8:1 Compression
Automatic 700R4 (it ain't gonna last long..)
3.07 Rear Gear

Thanks in Advance

You like to talk cars don't you? One point I haven't brought up yet, it would probably cost less to buy a used roller block then buy new retro fit lifters. But you could buy used retro fit lifters, but but I hardly ever see those for sale. Just a thought!

That would be kickass, especially since i could have the engine built and then just swap it. Thanks for the suggestion!

And yes i love to talk about cars lol. Except to people who say "DUDE IM GONNA PUT NOS (or as they say it "NAAAAWWWSSSS" ON MY CAR AND IT WILL BE AWESOME" and then they go into conversation about putting NOS on their lawnmowers.

A friend of mine got some new retrofit lifters for about half the cost of Comp Cams lifters. If you go with a roller block you will also need a new oil pan. For street I would consider the Comp Cam 268XFI.

That retro fit stuff is expensive. I can save you my stock '88 oil pan if you want, I was going to junk it.

That sounds expensive. Pick one up local on Craigslist.

There is a 2 bolt roller block here in Phoenix that the guy on craigslist only wants $100.
I can get a crank for $100 as well, and to top it off, there's a guy with a complete 96 truck vortec engine for $350 that runs and has 135K on it. just you have to pull it. you can even start it and listen to it.
I bet there's deals like that in your area.

I'm hoping i can find some cheap roller blocks around here. Otherwise, competiton products (oshkosh, very close to me) has some retrofit lifters for 275-300 dollars from Howards Cam

For $300 you could get a block bored, honed, and a crank turned, and cam bearings installed.
There is a guy here with a stroker 383 block and crank for $350.
He used a early 2 piece crank with an adapter for a late roller block.
He has no pistons, and no other engine parts.
He gave up before planning it out.
Do not fail to plan.
Course, if you want it, I can get you a crank and block for $350 plus shipping and MY FEE.

Course if you want to throw money at it, I can make it RUN
