I'm still looking for one of those black plastic plug covers for the rear hatch defroster wire. You know the one that plugs into the hatch from the hatch shock. Mine melted the black plastic cover as the wire got very hot one day. Must not have a very good connection. Anyway, I've cleaned up the wiring but can't seem to find a black plastic cover anywhere, not even from the dealerships. They don't have it on the microfilm! I'd like to clean this up as black electrical tape just doesn't look good. Any ideas?
take a look at the back of the new ecklers catalog............or better yet go to a local elec. repair shop thay should have one in stock and cost about 25 cents
Believe me I've looked, and none of the Corvette catalogs have them. I've searched high and low for this little thing! And since they are attached to the wire that is attached to the rear hatch glass most used parts places only have them with the hatch glass.

Hmm, have you actually found this particular plug? If so what is the label and part#? I have gone to two electronics supply stores and neither have it. Even had one guy look at the plug and said he didn't recognize the style. It seems to be a custom-made deal.
The plugs have a "PED" cast in them so I'm trying to find the manufacturer.
Shylor, if you can't locate a plug, I can mail you a spare one that I have. karshop was kind enough to send me two (at no charge!); I only needed one.
I've been searching everywhere for these. The dealership can't even find a part number for the metal plug. When I asked him what I can do now, he said "I don't know, we can't help you". So I'm like how did you replace them before, when the 96 was new? He didn't say anything. It burns me that I have a 1996 car and can't get parts because they were never on the micro film!
