I went through some of the same issues with my 91. Pull the cluster and check that the digital display board is seated well into the circuit board. The tach issue sound like a failed component in the cluster which I also wen through the same problem.

Clusters are available on ebay and that is the route I went. Has been a while but I got a 94 for less than a hundred and swapped out my 91 cluster but reused the 91 display in the 94.

Good luck.

My LCD display was too light to see most of the time/

Have a look here:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...cs-inside.html

I am having the same problem with my 91's tach, bought a used LT1 off ebay.

replaced it, and the damn thing still reads high, although not as high as before.

Is anyone able to confirm if 90-91 do have tach filters?

Im thinking just to send the one I bought off ebay for a rebuild and replace it once it comes back.

Is it the same cluster as a 90? I have removed all the guts from my 90 dash to go to Autometer gauges. I have the tach and the speedo parts if you want them I will send them to you if you pay the shipping. If you want to dare take yours apart and try these you can have them. I have them laying around collecting dust somewhere.

It is all the electronic pieces. I gutted the cluster and just using part of the background and the shell to place the gauges in.

Let me gather it all up and we will see how much room it actually takes up. If it is just a few bucks I will just send it to you.

I will snap a couple pics before I send it so you can see what all is there.

Miles are stored in the CCM on the 91, you can plug and play with another cluster.

I just sent mine off to get repaired at southern electronics. will post back once its installed....
hopefully the LT1 cluster will work properly in my 91.

Once you remove the 2 bolts holding the steering colum up the whole thing will lower so you can remove the cluster. It's only a 1 hr job total.

Default Tach repair

Tony,
It seems like all 90-92 vettes and fbodies had a bad resistor installed. On thirdgen.org a thread was started on 4-13-06( 90-92 tachometer fix) if you are handy you maybe able to fix yourself

Do you think the chances are more so that the cluster has failed rather than the tachometer filter?

Default cluster

Dailo, it seems like most problems are from this resister, and Tony, it sounds like a bad wiring connection
