Thanks Jim, you'll be a Superram kind of guy yourself whenever you come by the house & pick one out. Extrude honed to boot!
Tim,
As you well know, my primary concern is having something that is 100% California emissions compliant.
The Accel Super Ram is one of only a few after market systems that is legal for use with a EO# and yet gives me the best of all worlds with it's performance gains while not sacrificing economy.
Looking forward to the day when it's on so that I can compare with my previous numbers.
Thanks again for working with me on this, appreciated more than you know.
Jim

Tim,
Lost my notes in regards to our last phone conversation and the gaskets that you recommended when I change over to the Super Ram.
I want to gasket match everything before the install and will need a part number if at all possible.
Thanks,
Jim
Willie,
I am in the process of doing that right now...
Is there a annual club membership fee to become a member of this elite group?
Yes Jim, it's discounted for you, only $500 instead of the $800 yearly fee. Payment in full due by the end of the month, Visa, MasterCard, Paypal, or cash. I am the new treasurer by the way. I'll be in the office all day tomorrow if you want to drop the cash by. The new, first edition newsletter will be out shortly. Willie
Beware though, don't use other runner gaskets or you could have a vaccuum leak. See this thread from many years ago (in particular post #40 by Rich @ Cruzin Performance): http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...ep-inside.html
Here's a couple pics of the potential problem if you use the wrong gasket:

Willie,
Your killing Me!
Even with the discounted rate, I feel that your "elite group" is a bit out of my league
Then again, if you will accept Monopoly money, I may re-think my position

Thanks Tim,
I now see the importance of getting the correct gasket set.
Last thing I need besides the wrong fitting gaskets are vacuum leaks.
Before the install, I want to be sure that I have ALL OF THE CORRECT associated pieces and not have Marc Power have to do this twice.
Thanks for all of the tips, every bit of knowledge that I can extract from you and Willie as well as others is greatly appreciated.

Make it $300 real stuff. I'll make you president and you can type up the newsletter. We'll need to send out 2 copies.
OK Willie, I will write you a check for $300.00 with the provision you don't cash it before or after February 31
Because you are going to make me "President" I see it only fitting that you assume the duties of the "Vice" chair since you pretty well versed on the "Vice" aspect of this deal...

I think they fixed this, no?
I remember seeing this back when I had a superram, called around and lingenfelter and summit said it was fixed and ordered a gasket set and it fit perfectly. I'm hoping this is a thing of the past but good to keep an eye on regardless.
Also an old tip from petek I think, use vasoline on the paper gaskets to get them to swell and then bolt it together, no leaks.
Marv, definitely go SR, it isn't that high rpm and it is just lightyears ahead of the stock stuff.

Thanks Chris for your input...
It is the little things such as the Vasoline application as you suggested that will help make this installation easier.
I have heard and read a few stories about people who before me had problems with this installation with the Super Ram and it was mainly with improper gasket sealing issues.
It certainly helps when someone who has had experience with this particular system comes in and shares their knowledge.
I appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through this and any tips that they may have.
Jim
On my SR, I rtv the gasket on one side and use white lithium grease on the other (I'm the one with the previous tip ). In other words, the lower runner gaskets are stuck to the intake manifold and lithium grease is used next to the runner. On the upper side of the runners, rtv the gaskets to the top flat part of the runners, use lithium grease between that gasket and the plenum and you should be good to go. I do the same thing on for the throttle body. The motor is apart at least once or twice a year (including now) and I haven't changed gaskets in at least 6 years. Willie
All good tips Willie and very much appreciated.
Just to be on the safe side, I will be doing a print out of all of these suggestions just before the installation that I will pass on to Marc Power.
Though every modification that has been done on this engine has been used with California emissions legal EO numbers right from the cam shaft including Edelbrock Performer Cylinder heads, BBK Throttle body and now with the soon to be installed Accel Super Ram, I am a bit concerned if it will pass or not.
After reading some of the recent posts in the Northern California section, it seems that CARB keeps raising the standards.
My car will be due in March 2013 for emissions testing and it would be very disappointing with all the new requirements if my 87 C4 didn't pass.

Get a 1/4" gear wrench (I believe that is the size, take one of your SR runner to plenum bolts, 12 points usually, to verify) it will make life a lot easier on the ones you can get to.
I just used vasoline on both sides, worked ok for me but I bet Willie has been through his more.

Hey Chris, Good tip with the 1/4" gear wrench. I use a 12 point socket, universal joint and a 1.4" air ratchet and am able to remove 13 of the 16 bolts in a few minutes. I box end the other 3 in another few minutes. My plenum has been sealed for years. I don't remove the top. Another tip, use pipe sealer (white teflon paste in a tube) around the 12 bolts. It'll prevent any possible vacuum leaks from around the bolts. I use the same stuff on the runner to plenum allen bolts. Some go into the manifold. Willie
