hi

i just bought a 1994 c4 corvette with LT-1 engine / 6mt by the way i live in Kuwait . my car have about 202000 KM on the odometer. the car run great except for some small issues hope that i can find some answers here

some of the mods on the my c4 , installed on it when i bought it unknown milage on the mods

-BBK throttle body
-LT4 heads , pistons , cams
-3inch exhaust unknown brand
-head man headers
-force air intake system

did a compression test and it showed 76%.

get on subject issues

-at lower RPM the idle start to rumble then the car just shut down other than that no problem

-brakes barely stop i bush the brake pad al the way down so the brakes will stat working ( is it pads or brake lines ??) also some times the right back break grip

-when the transmission start to get hot from several hard runs its i hear a metal sound when i get it in 1st and 2nd gear

** also i have some picture that i need to know what are these peaces for

thanks for any input in advance

1. Check codes to see if there are any engine faults showing up. As heavily modded as it is you might need to find someone that can do a custom tune.

2. Check the brake pads and do a brake fluid flush.

3. Check fluid in the trans. Maybe do a drain and refill and check for any 'debris' in the old oil.

4. Easiest way to post pictures is to set up a free photobucket account and use it to post your pictures.

Hope this helps.

do i have to change the break line or just flush the fluid also use GM fluid or is there is other brands that is recommended

I would want to know what codes he found and cleared. Did he fix the cause of the codes or just clear them? You might want to take it back to him and find out.

Again, check the brake pads. As hot as it gets in Kuwait I would go back with a top quality synthetic brake fluid. You said you have forced induction (supercharged or turbo charged) so you might also want to check vacuum to the brake booster. Low or no vacuum gives a very hard pedal and very little stopping. Does it have an auxillary vacuum pump? If the brake lines are not leaking they are probably not the cause, but check them for any cracking and replace them with Stainless Steel lines (Earl's or Goodridge) if in doubt.

OK. The line in the first picture is a vacuum line, second picture is a crimped off line to the manifolds as part of the emissions system. So emissions has been by-passed, which is no problem for you. Find out what codes were set, clean up that engine bay (do NOT wash the front of the engine or you can ruin the optispark and that is expensive), and get your brakes fixed, and transmission serviced. If it is a hard pedal check for any vacuum leaks, otherwise do as we discussed ealrier. Not much else I can do for you on line, but we are here to help if we can.

No problem. I am a little curious though as I am not familiar with Kuwait. Is it difficult to find shops that work on a C4 Corvette and can you get parts for it when you need them? My son is in the USAF and it looks like he will be heading to Iraq or someplace close to it in a few months. He also has a Corvette (2004 convertible) and will be missing it while he is on your side of the world for awhile.

well there are good tuners here but not as good as in united state as far as parts yes you can get them easily especially chevrolet parts but as far as corvette c4 most of the parts have to be ordered form her (usa) and it would not take long maybe a week to 2 weeks depend on back order of these parts

the good thing is the labor is close to nothing maybe 400 dollar to install SC/turbo/NOS on almost any car thats just an example. so tell your son to ship his corvette he's going have a pleasant time am sure if he's in modding cars

What voltage is the gauge showing when off and when running? Check both the analog and the digital gauges. Low voltage can really screw up an LT1/4.

what you have is an LT1 someone has at least partially upgraded to LT4 specs.

as to your second picture, LT1s used an EGR (exhaust gas recirculation)valve; LT4 did not need EGR, their longer duration camshafts provided "free EGR". The LT4 manifolds (red color is a dead give away) blocked off the EGR mount with a simple plate; someone cut off the tube from an EGR flange, flattened the tube, and mounted it in place of the stock LT4 block off plate.

The first picture is a tube used for the crankcase ventilation system; its not super critical but it should mount up snugly, not loosely.
