I coming up I-495 traffic is kind of light, top is off, radio pumping and I see a couple bikes up ahead. So I speed up a little to check it out. As I get closer one of the bikes pulls a wheelie, I figure they’re gonna want to play. I know my level of self-control so I reach back and open up the blue bottle of fun, purge the line and I’m ready to go.
Both bikes pull into the middle lane and slow up, one was a Suzuki SV650S and the other was a ZX-9R (damn!) I slow up next to them about 55 or so and check out the bikes. They look over check out the Vette and give me a nod. I’m still not sure if they want to play or not. The road ahead is clear so I blimp the throttle a little and accelerate a little ahead of them at about ½ throttle.
With this the Suzuki bites, so of course I down shift and hammer it. Now the ZX lays back thinking this whole thing is a joke. By 75 the bike is at my door and the ZX is still hanging back, by 85 I’m starting to pull on the Suzuki and I see the headlight come up on the ZX, damn thing pulls so hard it lifts the front at 80MPH. By 95 I’m pulling the Suzuki and the ZX is coming hard. So it’s time to unleash the Blue Bottle of Fun, I reach over to the consol and Engage. Now, I’m really moving and the ZXs’ charge has slowed but he’s still coming. Just as I click 140 he gets to my front bumper and we both let off.
I am pumped that was awesome; he gives me the thumbs up and slows down so his buddy can catch up.
Disclaimer I don’t recommend that you try this at home. This event took place in a controlled environment by professional drivers (well very good drivers)
Had a similar experience with two Harleys two weeks ago. A softail with two onboard and a V-rod with paper dealer tag still affixed. Softail didn't really play, just goosed it long enough to get me to put him in my mirror, then his bud solo on the V-rod who was lagging a ways back got on it and was trying to close on me, but he couldn't. V-rods are supposed to be fast, though, so maybe he just lost his nerve. Harley and Fast... two words I'm not used to using in the same sentence...

Sweet  I raced a bike (not sure what kind, I know nothing about them) and we were even till around 95-100 then he let off. Really gets teh adrenaline goin
Raced an old buddy on a 92 CBR with some mods, and he left me at 20... only about one car length ahead at 75 though. Let off after that. This was on a closed freight road so i had no other cars to worry about.
Car vs. Bike from a stop and car Vs. bike from a roll is a HUGE difference. Add in a car like L98Terror's that pulls until the tachometer pegs, and it's all fair. :)
Come on now, my old Kawasaki '78 Z1-R will run 11.5 in the 1/4, most of the new liter class bikes will go high 9's. How can you guys beat that?
New Liter bike Can't, but say you have a car that'll run low 11's and the guy on the bike thinks it's a joke. He doesn't get on it full throttle or is a couple gears too high because he thinks he doesn't need to down shift. By the time he takes you seriously you have you 1-1.5 sec that evens it out.
Can a 11 or 12 sec car beat a 10 sec bike? No can you have some fun  Maybe pull out a W :reddevil
I just have to play the "Devils Advocate" here. You take a bike that runs a sub 10 sec 1/4 and is a true six speed, no OD. The bike has a 8K to 12K powerband. The rider would have to be an idiot to get beat. The laws of physics apply in the real world.
Look, I love Corvettes but I am also a realist. They are not invincable. I do believe that there are Vettes that can do it but everybody chimes in like it is a regular deal. It can't be that easy.
