I purchased a 35 th anni. with auto trans. The prevoius owner put in a hypertech 2 chip ( complete waste of money ). Anyway the car runs great except for its idle. When the engine is cold ,idle is nomal. 600 rpm but ,as soon as it warms up the idle speed jumps to 1300 and stays there. Will the chip cause this ? If not,any ideas. Car only has 21000 mi. and is stock ,except for the chip. I do have the original chip. Thanks in advance for any help.
My 6 speed cruises at that RPM on the Hwy.
Go back to the original chip. I know it is not an easy task changing it but at least you eliminate that if it doesn't solve the idle issue.
another thing is to unplug the MAF sensor and see if stills idles up before you fool with the chip.
Chip can cause this but are you able to get a scantool on it to see what the IAC is doing? Have you eliminated all possibility of an air leak? What is the TPS voltage at?
Wish I could get it scanned. Maf and maf relays are ok. Tps is 5.5, so it is ok. Am going to get into it more thoroughly this Sat. have never messed with IAC, but am not afraid to attempt. I do have manuals. Haven.t checked for air leaks yet, highly possible, this car sat for 10 months without being started. It is throwing no codes and does run very good except for high idle after warming up. Thanks for your response.
That is fine then. Have you taken leaks out of the equation? If it isn't leaking, can you borrow a scantool to see what the ECM is seeing for IAC counts with all accessories off?
