Guys,
I am having a problem with the dip stick after my mods were done. Oil is coming out from around the lower seal were it goes into the oil pan and also around the seal on the dip stick to the tube (upper side). I also can't re-attach the mounting bracket after the headers were installed. The mounting bracket doesn't have enough clearance to fit the headers. I would like to replace the whole dipstick and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I know Autozone has some. Do you think they would be good enough? Thanks
If your getting oil all the way up to the top, were the dip stick goes into the tube. I would think you need more crankcase ventilation, like breathers and PCV valve. excess pressure is the only thing that will force oil that far up the tube.
hopefully it just needs more venting, and isn't a case of blowby on the piston rings.

Chrome dipstick tube hint: If tis too big to go into the block's hole, grind the chrome off that section of tube. then use a small bolt in the top to hammer on.
The oil coming out the top is just from a bad seal that has been present for quite some time. I fixed it a while back with some electricians tape to just make the top of the tube a bit larger in diameter and it fixxed the problem. But now after having the dipstick pulled out and re-install it leaks at the bottom too. I want to fix it right this time and was wondering if anyone knew of a good one.
I have the PVC on the drivers side and just a straight through billet specialties cap with a line up to the TB for the passengers side. It is the same amount of breathers as I had before the mods. Nothing was touched on the bottom 1/2 of the motor. I really don't think blowby is an issue, just a worn dipstick. I will get a new on and try to install it this week. If anyone knows of one that will work without too much problem, speak up.
You need to put a sealant on the lower portion of the tube where it presses into the block. Just besure it is O2 friendly as some can cause havoc with sensors. When I installed my JBA shorty headers on my ' 92 I had the same problem (but it never leaked before the job).
Good luck
glad to hear blowby is not a issue. I thought you were getting lots of oil out there.
A sealer should work if you can mount the dipstick tube somehow so it dosn't move around and lose its seal. (I'd use something better than silicone though)
