I bought a used toggle switch for my 84 vettes mirrors. I thought that mine was broken since it doesn't stick out of the console like it should. Instead I think that it is missing some kind of a clip that should hold the switch in place. The new switch has a groove machined in it that looks like some kind of clip may hold it in place.
Does anyone have any pics of what I should have to hold the switch firmly in the console? I did not find any in my repair manual and a search here was no help.
Yes, a large clip holds the switch in place. Though, I don't have any pics of the clip. You should be able to get one easy from a parts car. 84-89.
That's what I need then. My mirrors are looking at the pavement right now! I planned on working on it today, but I woke up in the middle of the night with the flu.
I guess there's always tomorrow

Just check in the for sale section for someone parting an 84-89 to see if they have the clip. Is your old toggle switch still good? If so, I would keep it as they don't make these switches anymore. It is a pain to get to that switch though.

Yeah I found out that the switch is a biotch to get to. I was working on it before it went to the paint shop and hadda quit to get it painted. I bought a better set of mirrors that are SUPPOSED to work and the body shop guy took the old mirrors off and painted the new mirrors seperately so that everything got painted right. Now the new mirrors are looking down and I need to get them to adjust.
