Default A 92 Question

Just got a 92 coupe. Have some question's.
1. What should the RPM's be in drive?
2. What would the maxium throttle body size to use on a LT1
with headers, flowmaster ex.,MSD,K&N,and performance chip? It has a
Holly 58MM on it now. Inj. all new to me.
Thanks in advance.

dont have my fsm handy but mine runs about 800 rpm at idle in drive.that throttle body is way and i mean WAY to big for your simple mods.that size throttle body is only for people who have a need for serious airflow.400 plus rwhp.if had to guess your car is in the 260-270rwhp range.youll almost certainly pick up some throttle response by going back to a stock throttle body which i think is a 48mm.

1. - At what speed do you want to know the RPM's?
I don't have an auto, but others can chime in if they have that info.

2. The 58mm is overkill. If it just has those bolt ons the stock TB is sufficient.
I'm sure you can go larger with porting the opening on the intake - but why?

I, too, have a 92. The throttle body other than stock is of no benefit and can be a problem for you. Now if you go with better heads, cam, intake mods and even a stroker kit then maybe a larger TB might be in order. Simple mods that yield nice improvements in efficiency: Roller rockers, take a good look at your opti-spark and water pump. I installed shortie headers and like the look as well as sound improvement and it was easy. Soon the long tubes will be going on when I go with the LT4 top end project.

With the stock 2.59 gear ratio, my 92 LT1 auto was running about 1750 RPM at 60 MPH, give or take.

Mine with headers and K&N runs about 1600+/- at 55 and go back to the 48mm TB. Put one on mine and it took off like a snail from the line, of course w/2.59's it takes off like a turtle w/48mm TB.

My totally stock car did 267rwhp, after K&N 267rwhp, after headers and high flow bullit cats on stock catback exhaust 278rwhp(also should note that wires and plugs were replaced when headers were installed), guess it shows that the LT exhaust is not that restrictive.
Also should note that this is w/Bosch III 24lb inj on and the car does run slightly rich, I do have a tune.
Would suggest not getting 24lb inj's on a 92-93(stock 22lb), as the ECM does not seem to handle them well.

Sorry, got a little off track.
