Default engine swap?

what to expect. going from stock tpi to blown 383 carb engine from 1989. my vette is an 85. I just really want all my gauges to work. will the tach work with MSD? any info. greatly appreciated

The gauges should work fine. What's the deal with the old '85 block?

its perfect 56k original miles. im just a hp junky and i already have the 383 stroker with performer heads and b&m 144 blower pushin 5 with the right tune. the oem tpi is for sell with harness and computer.

You will lose the mpg and range functions. The check engine light will not light up since the ecm will be in your cabinet somewhere. That's where mine is.

how hard is it to separate wires from the harness for all the gauges?

pull from the side or remove the hood? trans and motor? or just motor?

It's less work to pull from the side and just pull the engine, if the transmission is in good shape. But I'm quite sure you know that, the blower will not sit under the hood, without a larger scoop or changing too a aftermarket hood. So it's going to need to come off either way.
