not 100% positive, but as i recall, its around 4 qts. BTW, i've had a complete flush w/ filter, on my 90 without issues.
Why? I have flushed a lot of the transmissions on my cars. So far, mostly went off without a hitch. Only 1 had a problem and that was because the ******** doing it spilled trans fluid all over the valve cover and it stunk for days. Most of the horror stories revolve around someone who went for a flush and his side was that the trans went out soon after. I had the same issue on my 84 Camaro too. I flushed it in hopes that it would limp along for a few more weeks. Well, it did till the trans died totally in some place 400 miles away.
I have heard stories about it as well where transmissions that haven't had regular maintenance--Shortly after a flush, the transmission dies. You should be able to get away with a filter change.

Yes, as have I. Like I said, owner neglects it for eons and finally decides to take it in when it feels a little off or it is way overdue. At that point, what he wants is a "hail mary" pass to prolong the life of the trans that HE HAS NEGLECTED. Kinda like a 400# overweight guy getting on the treadmill when he is aged 60 and collapses. Can't blame the treadmill.

As to the stories, with all due respect, they are stories. There has not been a shard of science behind any of them that I know of. Oh, there is speculation, guess work and anecdotal evidence but never real scientific proof. Much like Enzyte, Extenze, etc, etc. Testimonials of people and their partners who have used it and got a bigger "johnson" with it. Real science in a nationally accredited laboratory, nope.

Auto Trans fluid capacity with fluid and filter change is 10 pints. Pan bolts torque = 97 lb/inch.
You will drain out between 3 12 to 4 quarts depending on how long you let it drip. A couple of days will get you a half quart more because the fluid slowly drains out of the converter. Just measure how much drained out and replace that amount.
