Default Electronic Gremlin in my C4 - Please Help

Please help!

I live in Michigan. My Vette has been in the garage since the first week of December. Last week I took the cover off and attempted to start it and it was dead. I put it on a battery charger and after a few hours with a 10amp charge it started up for me. I took it around the block and pulled back into the garage. The entire time it was running (including warm up) the Security light was on. At that time I hooked up a small 2amp battery tender for a trickle charge.

Yesterday I removed the tender, started up the car and drove approx 20 miles to go to lunch. On the way to lunch the horn started blowing and there was a ticking sound and there was no way to stop it. Just before I got where I was going the horn and ticking sound stopped. When I came back from lunch the car wouldn't start (dead - no lights - would not turn over). We tried to jump it and it still wouldn't start. Thinking that it was a battery issue I went and got a new battery. With the new battery in place the car still wouldnt start.

The service station where I purchased the battery somehow got it started for me. Before I left I checked the volt meter and it read 14.2 volts. As I went to leave to start my way home the horn started sounding again. After a few minutes it stopped. On my way home whenever I used the turn signals, window controls or the FM radio the horn would sound.

When I got home I disconnected the new battery in case something is pulling from or draining the battery. I inclination is to think that there is some sort of reset (hopefully its that easy).

We have only owned the car 8-9 months. This is the first time we have experienced this problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Please help!
Thanks,
Kirk

disconnect horn, see if you can charge bat, drive it awhile, see if problem still exists

start at the horn and work your way back along the wires, look for breaks in insulation

Then check out horn relay, I am not sure if it drives anything else

Do you have an aftermarket alarm?

Yes there is an aftermarket alarm and it is turned off. This weekend I am going to disconnect it entirely.

Thanks for the posts. Keep submitting them.

When I bought my car from the previous owner it had a clifford alarm. I had nothing but problems with it until I had it ripped out.
