I just bought an 86 with an instrument cluster problem. the cluster lights up. But everything indicates a maximum value. I cannot be doing max rpm and max mph while I am sitting still in the parking lot. Is this a simple fix, or do I need a new cluster assembly? I was hoping that it is a simple power source problem.
a few of my backlite bulbs quit working but gauges are fine. Dealer wants $110 to just replace those bulbs. I just ordered a complete rebuilt unit from Corvette Cluster Service in Indiana for $200 exchange. They say its a 20 minute job to change it. Instructions included. Mine is also an 86. http://www.corvettedashclusterservic...oprocess1.html

AT most, it will cost you $40, the sylvania 882s are kinda expensive. The dealer is smoking crack to charge that much.
