Default Only need Fuel?

I have an '84 and the car starts with a little starter fluid and then quits. I have a new fuel pump on order. Question is that if the car sounds normal until the starter fluid burns out, then is the only thing that it is missing is fuel and there is no need to pull plugs and etc. The car sat for a year.

Also, I went through and filled the master cylinder up, pumped the clutch pedal 50 times or so and then drained it out and repeated 3 times. I dont feel much feed back. Does this mean I have a bad clutch cylinder or can it just be stuck?

Thanks everyone.

Can you hear the fuel pump when you turn the switch on? Have you checked to see if your fuses are good? Can you check to see if you have electricity to the pump?
You are probably on the right track if the car has been sitting for a while. And yes, if it runs with starter fluid, the ignition is working.
As for the clutch, the lack of feedback could mean that the clutch is moving but you just can't feel it. You may have to wait until you get the motor running to see if it is releasing. My car is auto so I can't tell you how much feedback you should feel.

I have a new fuel pump on order. I haven't gotten to the fuse box. Although that is probably the first place to look. There is no pump noise when I turn the key. I am hoping my repair manual comes in today before I get to in depth with it.

Okay, so I dont need a new fuel pump, I am just not getting power to it. Now I am waiting on a gasket set since I took out the TBI's and am wondering if there is anything you can order that is just the gasket kit for the TBI's not the whole fuel pressure sensors too.
