i work in a shop that builds custom jeeps and rock buggies and we are an amsoil dealer.i get a good deal on the stuff and ive heard some good things about the products they make.does anyone have any experience with it and would you use it?
I've used Amsoil 5w30 tranny oil in both my 93 and 94 ZF tranmission Corvettes with good results, Amsoil has a good reputation for making superior lub products. In my opinion:go 4 it!
There's a friction 'zone' between too much slippage and chatter/bumping where limited slip (positraction) effectiveness exists and the engineers at Eaton know how that's achieved.
Also, I believe GM recommends a Synchromesh lube for ZF's. I'm not sure if Amsoil makes a syncromesh lube, but I'm staying with GM's recommendation.
For my money, I'm not going to dismiss the recommendations of the engineers and their R&D when it comes to lubes.

I replaced all the fluids (engine, trans, and diff) with Amsoil and picked up 2 MPG on the highway. I also track my car on roadcourses and the Amsoil hold up very well.
I've used the AMS Synchromesh 5-30 in the trans and the AMS Severe Gear in the diff-car is a stock 95 and had 55K miles and after using AMS, you wouldn't think it was the same car-great results
I also used AMS Full Synthetic 5-30 in the stock engine and I would not use it again. Way too much valvetrain noise at startup and untuil full warmup. In fact, I have 7 quarts 5-30 motor oil leftover and it is going in the wife's Tahoe-not myC4 or C5Z
I also switched out all lubes to amsoil in my 96 LT4. It is pricey but you will be amazed at how clean it will stay and how long it will feel like new oil, even after some very hard use, you might even notice a little bit of MPG.
Always used it in off road vehicles in the midwest and never had a problem. Matter of fact, 0w30 amsoil compared to mobile 1 syn after 3000-5000 hard miles was like night and day in our trucks. Mine was nice and clean and did not need changed. His (mobile 1) was a gooey dark brown in color. Hell my old 2000 chevy 327 z71 truck went about 20k miles between changes and even then it still looked good and had plenty of viscosity. I changed the filters every 10k miles, they are rated at 25k miles but I did not mind spending 10 bucks to keep my oil nice and clean!
Make sure you get the amsoil filter and if you can find a magnetic collar off of ebay to slap on your new filter, get it!
Good luck.

All my customers use it in all the circle track engines we build and never had an issue so far and using that oil has saved some engines from distruction.
