I bought a set of chrome rims online to replace the factory 17 inch rims. The new rims are 17 inch x 9.5. I took them to a tire shop to have them installed and they told me the new rims would not work on the front because they would rub the fender wells. The company I bought the rims from said they would work and from what I have read they should work. Anyone have any ideas?
They told me they removed one of the original rims and tires and put just the new rim on and that's when they decided it would not work. After they had kept my car all day I pretty much told them to forget it.
They were bought and advertised as 17" C4 1988-1996 Corvette rims. The company I bought them from sells many rims. The guy has been very upfront and tells me they have sold many of them for Corvettes.
Sound like the tire shop had some idiots working there or they were afraid of any potential liability from installing a wheel that did not exactly match the OEM specs. Simply placing a bare wheel onto the hub tells them nothing.
