Most, if not all, nitrogen charged gas shocks will raise you car a little. This is usually not noticable. However, if your car has old worn out shocks which are sagging pretty bad, you might notice a slight difference. My suggestion is not to worry about it as you will most likely not even notice any height change. However, you will notice much better road handling. Go for the best nitrogen charged gas shocks you can afford. FWIT

Default Shocks

Since I didn't see anyone else mention them, I run shocks from TPIS. I tried them out since I had their catalog and had purchased other items from them. They are a big bang for the buck in my opinion. I have autocrossed with these shocks for 3 seasons and work great. Wouldn't think twice about purchasing them again if I ever need shocks again.

Last year I called Bilstein to ask about the oem shocks. They told me that the original oem shocks are exclusively made for the dealers and that I could not buy them in a parts store. They also said they were slightly softer than the shocks currently sold at the parts store.

mid america has good prices on bilstiens, but seem to be out of stock on everything but 89-94, Z51/Z52 sets - about $300.

That's good to know. You may want to get prices from Superior Chevrolet. They are supposed to give good prices.

I just replaced all four shocks. I bought z51 Bilsteins and they made a big difference. I bought them from corvette america. They are not cheap, but they are worth the cost. On the 84 you need an allen wrench to hold the top shaft to tighten the nut. There is no room between the fender well and shaft, so you will have to cut the allen wrench in half to fit it in the top. Good Luck easy job. On the rears you will need to compress them to get them into the top bracket.
