Mini Ram owners...how do I convert to 'Speed/Density'?
I expect to order the Mini Ram II, and the Fuel Rail Kit this week.
Presently, I'm running the Mass Air Flow Sensor, but I was wondering what is involved to convert over to the Speed/Density system?
My mechanic is suggesting Speed/Density over the Mass Air Flow system.
Would you share your thoughts on the subject?
Thanks!!
John

To convert to SD, you should either buy an SD harness, or convert yours (or have it done - john Millican does this affordably http://www.lt1intake.com). Other than that, you'll need to obviously replace the ECM, and add a MAP sensor to the intake. You'll also need to either modify your knock sensor with a 10k resistor, or cough up $15 for a new knock sensor from a 90-91.

Jim or Terry at http://www.tpis.com can help you with this one. They have the wiring harness that you need, as well as the map sensor. I think you need a different ecm. They can burn you a chip or you could find somebody else to do that. I thought about doing it to my car. Cost around $700-800 for everything I think.

If you want to maximize your new your new Mini Ram, maybe you should consider something like this: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=235490. The Accel EFI unit I'm selling has just about everything you need to go with a speed density set up except an engine and a laptop. An EFI controller like mine offers the flexibility of making laptop computer adjustments. It also offers wider parameters of adjustments from a stock ECM. Obviously you don't have to buy the unit I'm selling, but maybe you should think about going aftermarket for an EFI controller. Food for thought.
