Default Shift RPM

On a 700R4 to change the wide open shift points I know you need to change the wieghts in the rear of the housing. Does anyone know what parts you need to get to move it up to around 6K?

Slowly grind down the stock weights. If you mess up, use a governor recalibration kit. Summit, etc, carry them. Search my threads, I've started a few on the topic.

When I was running a 700, I bought 2 B&M governor kits and played with different combinations of springs and weights. As Aardwolf said, you want the weights to be lighter so centrifical force will move them outwards slower. You can also use heavier springs. It's difficult getting the low rpm shift points correct as well as the wot points.

So the low rpm shifts are also affected by the weights and springs. I thought the line pressure thru the detent cable affected the low. Makes since though that the weights come into play all the time and are the main adjustment for shift points all around.

The inner weights control the low RPM shifts. You can play with those too but extra do not come with the recal kit.
