Default ECU troubles

Hey guys,

I have tunerpro and i put a tune on my 88 vette 383 and car started up but was running a tad lean. so i pulled the chip and did a return on it to richin it. then the car would not stay on. it would start and then turn off and the fans would kick on. so i put it back to the tune where it ran and still the same problem. i am starting to pull my hair out over this car. can anyone provide some incite?

The chip is not installed correctly or the chip is programmed incorrectly. The fans coming on immediately means there is a problem with the memcal (Chip).

Maybe be a little more specific.

What kind of eprom are you using?
What size eprom (27C128, 27C256, 27C512 etc.)?
Is it Flash or U/V erasable?
Which programmer are you using.
Are you offsetting or stacking bins to accomodate size differences?
Does it verify when programmed?
Is it oriented correctly?
Is the checksum updated or disabled?

I am using the C2 SST 27SF512 with Moates burn2 programmer. i am using tunerpro RT and when i go to burn it i can select the 27SF512 chip so i think it is offsetting correctly.
I Verify it as well after i burn it and it is installed correctly.

how do i figure out the checksum the tune say it is 5C47 and it is not disabled. thanks for you help i am new to tuning

You are programming a 16k file onto a 64k chip. The bin needs to be at the bottom of the chip.

You could either stack your bin 4 times, or start programming at address: 0xC000 instead of 0x0000.
