Hey guys I'm trying to track down an oil leak I've had for a while now. Its on my white 1986 with steel heads. There is a wiring harness above the oil filter and there is fresh oil all over it. Any ideas where it could be coming from? I've recently replaced the valve cover gaskets, they were in bad shape. Its been about a month since that and its still leaking. Any ideas?
How hard is it to check/replace the sending unit? I'm pretty inexperienced as a mechanic. I dont mind trying things for the first time but anything that involves pulling the engine is definitely a no-go for me
Does the L98 have the adapter plate between the filter and the block?
If so, check there.
Since the L98 is notorious for the china wall leaking, that is my vote.
I would also reseal the oil pressure switch, just do not break it like I did.
They are a little expensive.
