No problem, my Autozone props are a little tired so I ordered two more of these, they have a 2 year warranty as well!

I also ordered 2 of their Hatch struts!

I've had my 86 for over 6 months now those supports are so worn out I didn't even know they were there! I always thought that the hood was really heavy. I think I'll be replacing mine for sure!

My 91 only had the one long strut-lock but have always known the mounts were there for the short struts,my 84 had these.I put the 2 short struts on the car with a fairly new main strut support, the hood would open so hard I thought the hood was going to break.I removed one of the short struts and it opens fast but still need to hold the hood as it opens to keep it from going forward too hard.

Sorry, this wont work for a 90 or later. Looks like there is some kind of clips needed to make it work.

Only problem is, how does one remove the old post on this bracket. I tired screwing off the bushing and it won't budge. Any ideas how to remove the old posts so bolts can be used to replace them. Looks like I can get all this at Home Despot.

$69 a piece is way overpriced.

I got them for $8 a piece from Rock Auto.
Part #SG430011 for pre 89'

Nice improvement in ease of opening the hood. New ones are super stiff.

The ones I pulled would just flop in and out under their own weight.

I just picked up 2 new lifts for my 87 vert today from auto zone. They went on great but My hood still feels like it weighs a ton. I can see a little difference but nothing like I was expecting. This is my 3rd C-4 and none really lifted very easy. Are any of these rated stronger that another?

The upper posts are actually large D shaped rivets that are peened over on the backside of the brackets. You can cut off the peened over part and remove the post from the other side leaving a D shaped hole in the bracket. Be warned, this is a PIA since its a tight fit and the material is difficult to cut.

Thank you for that. Maybe a cut off wheel will help. Yes, it looks like it is quite substantial and would be a REAL PITA to remove. I was afraid of that.

I am guessing the equivalent set of struts (if they existed at all) that has the clips on the end would not work without a 'ball' mount? Those straight posts don't seem to have anything to 'grip'. Maybe if I could cut a notch in the post and hold the unit in with some kind of e-clip. But there would be so much tension on there I bet it would just pop off violently.

Or maybe I could use a tap and die and just thread the end of the little post!

OK but 2 are better. Price is too high. Try Rock Auto

Where they Mighty Lifts?
I replaced mine last year with a set I bought on ebay with no noticeable improvement either. They claimed to be OEM.

Maybe that means the old ones were still good?
