Default Instrument Cluster Power Supply Question

Does anyone know where to purchase the Delphi power supplies for a 1988 corvette instrument cluster. Sometimes the cluster will work and sometimes it will not. I notice the voltage on the cluster will either drop below 8volts or go above 18volts and then the cluster will turn off. I checked the actual car voltage when it does this, but its stays at 14.4volts. I am assuming the power supply is bad. I would like to fix this myself, but I cannot find the power supplies anywhere!! Help would be appreciated. Thanks!

When I had trouble with mine I did a lot of research and found out that the PS manufacturer only sells to a few rebuilders. I bit the bullet and sent mine out and even told them it was a PS problem. I was right but the charge was about $300.

www.batee.com has the schematic for an 89 cluster including the power supply. If you can repair electronic circuits, the schematic is a a tremendous help.

Usually the LCD panels will show a "flicker" slightly when the cluster tries to perform normally with a failing PS. If this is the cases the more than likely a few of the capacitors blew - more common on the clusters equipped with the stand off power supply (pre 89 - the '89 is integrated into one of the main PCB cards). The power supply runs just about everything in the cluster except for the backlighting.

I've got the same problem... even changed the transistor, and it just started burning when i plugged it in. i'm about to bite the bullet as well and send out for a rebuild. I once saw a PS board on ebay for about $150, but at that price even, you may as well spend the extra and send for a sure fix. My '88 board is also having problems, before i changed the transistor I was burning the 5amp fuse everytime, atleast now, that problem is solved..

solder cracks and problem begin. I have repaired a few clusters, it takes about 10-15 min.
Get a magnifying glass and look at each weld spot, you can see cracks. Good luck!
Or you can send it to me, include $300... No, I need $300.01 because I will use solder for 1 cent.
